Engagement &
Surprise Proposal

engagement and surprise proposal photography in the mountains

This isn’t just about photos.
It’s about how the moment feels. AND...

An engagement in the mountains often isn’t just ONE thing.

There is the moment of the proposal - emotional, intense, intimate.
And there is the time after - when everything slows down and the reality settles in.

These moments feel very different.
That’s why I treat them as two distinct types of sessions.

surprise proposal or Engagement session — or both

Both sessions are designed as intentional mountain experiences - planned with time, care, and realistic logistics.
  • Surprise proposal

This session is focused on the proposal itself.

    It includes:
    • discreet planning of location, timing, and positioning
    • realistic logistics (access, light, weather, privacy)
    • calm, unobtrusive photography during the proposal
    The priority here is simple:
the moment feels real, not staged - and nothing distracts from it.

This part of the day is short, intense, and emotionally charged.
  • Engagement session

This session is about celebration and connection.
It’s slower. More relaxed. More expressive.
    It can take place:
    • later the same day (for example at sunset), or
    • on a different day - depending on your plans and availability
    This is the moment where:
    • outfits can change
    • nerves are gone
    • you actually have space to enjoy being photographed together
The result feels less like “the big question”
and more like “this is us, now”.

extra peace of mind

For proposal sessions, I send you a clear planning checklist a few weeks in advance.
It includes:
  • timing and positioning guidance
  • what to bring and what to avoid
  • links, meeting points, and practical notes
  • everything in one place, so nothing is forgotten

Why many couples book both sessions

  • Two different moments

The proposal is intense and emotional.
The engagement session is calm, joyful, and unhurried — they deserve different space.
    1
  • No pressure on the proposal

When photos don’t have to "do everything," the proposal stays private and real.
No posing. No rushing. Just the moment.
    2
  • Better photos, naturally

When the engagement session follows couple of hours after the proposal, the connection feels relaxed and naturally alive — while the joy is still fresh and visible in every movement.
    3
  • Smarter planning

Planning both sessions together allows us to think in flow: nearby locations, realistic timing, and a plan that feels natural.
    4
  • More value, less repetition

When both sessions are booked together, planning and preparation are shared.
That’s why it’s more cost-efficient than organising two completely separate shoots.
    5
  • A more complete story

    One moment marks the question.
The other celebrates the answer — together, they tell the full story of your engagement.

We are ever so grateful for Irina accommodating us last minute for a Xmas snowy engagement shoot in Jan'24! What a great way to start the year! She was so warm, welcoming and natural which made us feel so comfortable to just be candid in the moment! Thank you for the beautiful memories! 💕🙏🏼
