Somewhere above the clouds, just married.

A Berchtesgaden elopement, from Marktschellenberg to the Jenner - with wedding cake, warm drinks and a very personal ending at Hintersee.
In the photograph, they're standing together above a sea of clouds, mountains stretching out behind them. Newly married, wrapped up in each other, with a view that makes you want to pack your wedding dress and leave immediately.

What you can't see is the hot chocolate that came before it. Or me checking the weather throughout the day, working out where to take them next.

There was a little more to this picture than turning up somewhere beautiful.

Their kind of wedding reception

These two wanted to spend their wedding day together in the mountains. I had recommended the locations for their adventure, starting with preparations and a first look at their apartment in Ramsau, followed by their civil ceremony in Marktschellenberg.

And afterwards? Coffee from a tiny bakery and Red Velvet wedding cake on a wooden bench near a little mountain church.

I'm very much in favour of a wedding day where you get to eat your cake somewhere you actually want to be.

The mountain view we'd hoped for was hidden in fog, but the cake-cutting, kisses and freshly married moments were all there to photograph. Meanwhile, I was keeping an eye on the weather and adjusting our next move.

You enjoy being married. I'll watch the weather.

With the fog lingering, I recommended skipping Rossfeld and heading to the Jenner instead. We took the gondola up and settled into the Jenneralm with coffee, tea and hot chocolate to warm up while we waited for a clearer sky.

That pause belongs in their wedding story just as much as the summit does. Time to sit close, have something warm and enjoy where the day had taken us.

As the fog began to lift, we headed towards the summit on foot. And suddenly, there it was: the mountains we'd been waiting for, with the clouds below us.

I photographed them together among the rocks, surrounded by that enormous view. One of those images later won first place in the “Hochzeitspaar” category at the Braut Foto Award 2026.

An incredible honour. And a lovely reminder of the day behind the photograph: the changing plans, the patience and the couple who trusted me to help them make the most of it.

Sometimes a little flexibility makes all the difference

The best part hadn't all happened yet

There was still a letter.

The groom had meant to read it to his bride on the mountain and forgotten. She had also wanted photographs by the water, so I suggested we take that moment to Hintersee.

They asked me to stay longer. We had a little more wedding day to enjoy.

Beside the lake, he read his words to her while I photographed them. After the scale of the mountains, it was such a personal way to end: two people, a letter and everything he wanted her to know.

Our elopement wedding was simply unforgettable thanks to the wonderful Irina. She accompanied us throughout the day, across several locations, capturing every mood and every moment with such sensitivity and love that we still get goosebumps every time we look at the photos.

Even during the planning stages, it was clear how much heart she puts into her work. Her comprehensive questionnaire and the professional client portal on her website allowed us to plan our day exactly as we wanted, and from the very beginning, we felt that she understood precisely what was important to us.

She was also incredibly flexible and accommodating with her pricing. Although we had originally booked her only until the afternoon, we were able to spontaneously add the evening – it was completely hassle-free. We were also able to add extras like a wedding cake, which she lovingly organized for us. This meant that absolutely everything was taken care of, and we were able to enjoy our day completely relaxed.

We also felt completely at ease during the photo shoot. With her posing tips, everything looked natural, and even though we hadn't known each other for very long, she never felt like a stranger - but rather like a dear friend.
The photos are simply perfect! We would do everything exactly the same way again and wholeheartedly recommend Irina!
Thank you so much, Irina ♥️

Perhaps your wedding day includes a mountain summit. Perhaps it's cake somewhere beautiful, a quiet place for your promises and the freedom to stay a little longer.

You don't need to arrive with every location chosen and the whole route figured out. Tell me what you'd love to experience. I'll help you find the places, shape the day and adapt along the way - so you can enjoy the adventure together, with photographs that bring you right back.

With love from the mountains, Irina
